I hope you got some of your goals accomplished and are all set for the final two months of the year. I can’t believe this year is almost over. This month we looked at ways to keep your business on track for success and why using budget & cash flow reports in your business can be helpful.

I hope these posts were helpful and that you found ways to apply the concepts to your business. As we move forward toward the end of the year we will start to take a look at year-end business bookkeeping items that you want to have buttoned up so that you can be ready for tax time.

How To Have Sustainable Growth & September Roundup!

Many of us started our business out of a need to solve a problem or a passion for a skill set that we have. I started my business to use my background in accounting and administration to help service-based entrepreneurs create & sustain a business that they love so they can create the lifestyle of their dreams. I am a one-woman shop and look forward to growing my business but I want to do it smart.

According to a joint study shared on Entrepreneur.com, “Roughly two-thirds of the fastest-growing startups end up failing. Research from California State University also showed that companies that had fast revenue growth performed worse, long-term than their slow-growing counterparts.”

I am sure these business owners had the best of intentions and were super-excited to scale their business to increase revenue and jumped right in. We can learn from their mistakes by applying the 5 steps below as we move along the business scaling journey.

Step One

Set S.M.A.R.T. Goals. I shared in a previous blog post that SMART stands for specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, and time-bound.

Step Two

Take time to do market research on your industry and the competition to gain a better understanding of your competitive advantage or threats.

Step Three

Know your numbers. It is super important to understand where your business stands financially so that you can make good decisions. Additionally, creating a detailed business budget and financial projections are also must-haves in your business toolkit.

Step Four

Create efficiencies in your daily operations and use technology to reduce labor on repetitive tasks.

Step Five

Provide excellent customer service to your customers and ask for their feedback to improve your services.

There are many more things to consider when you are thinking about scaling your business. If you take your time and give some thought to the steps above you will be miles ahead of your competition as we sail out of the month of September. As usual, this month went by fast. People say that time flies when you are having fun so that must be true.

I truly enjoyed kissing summer goodbye and moving forward into the fall season. I hope you had a fantastic summer season and were able to get some things accomplished. This month I talked about 3 Ways To Create Measurable Goals and How Busy Entrepreneurs Can Continue To Learn New Things. If you have time for a few quick reads check them out and remember the tortoise won the race.

August Roundup

The month of August came fast and is leaving just as fast!

I hope you had a great time enjoying all the summertime fun with your friends and family.

I sure did.

In the midst of all the fun, I took time out to work on my business with my US Bank Goals Coach. If you don’t have one yet then I highly recommend working with one.

I also set time aside to help you focus on your finances by taking a look at a few areas in your business. If you have time over the Labor Day holiday weekend check out the posts below.

July Monthly Roundup!

This month is almost in the record books! I hope you are enjoying the summer season so far. It’s been so hot everywhere in the country including Las Vegas. My main goal for this month has been to stay cool!!!

In a recent mastermind meeting, a colleague mentioned her excitement for purchasing training that would help move her business forward. I mentioned that we should all strive to have clients like her and she agreed.

What does it take to deliver such an exceptional client/customer experience that will make your business look red hot and leave people raving about your business like my colleague? It starts with caring about your clients and customers’ needs. In a recent post by Hubspot, they mention that you must make your customers feel special. They go on to say that “Every interaction needs to revolve around the concept of individual value, mutual respect, and a shared vision for your future as their brand of choice.”

It’s a mouthful but it’s very true!

They go on to list the following ways you can deliver an exceptional client and customer experience:

  • Go beyond their expectations

  • Go beyond what the competition delivers

  • Strive to deliver a frictionless experience

  • Be appreciative and say thank you

  • Get client and customer feedback to make enhancements

These are all things we as business owners can strive to do. Tools like Hubspot, Survey Monkey & Zoho can help us with this task. The one tip that I have is to listen to your clients and customers. This one tip will give you a mountain of information about what is working and not working in your client/customer journey.

I hope you will take these tools, tips, and checklists with you into August. Go out there and be amazing.

The Month of May Review & Welcome To June

May is in the record books!

I hope you crushed your goals last month and are on track to make your quarterly goals. Memorial weekend in Las Vegas was bananas as usual but I had a great time with my family from out of town. Now it’s time to get back to work. If you have time to do some catch-up reading check out the blog posts from May below that I wrote just for you. 🙂

The month of June is the official start of summer and I am ready to get some swim time in. I am also gearing up for the end of 2nd quarter with a few business goals that I am working on to help educate and empower fellow small business owners. This month I want to take a look at a few tips for cash flow management, an overview of what banks and lenders are looking for when deciding to give you a loan, and the anatomy of a workable budget.

The Month of April is in the record books.

I hope you enjoyed the first days of spring and a new perspective on your business. This month I focused on how to fund your business in 3 ways. If you haven’t had a chance to check out the post I encourage you to do so. Many small businesses cease to exist due to cash flow problems. I hope that my tips help you to stay cash-liquid and ready for the next opportunity.

March RoundUp~

March is pretty much in the history books.

The weather was definitely wacky across the country but I hope that didn’t get in the way of you working toward your business goals this month. This month I shared free tools that you can use to grow your business. In my post titled, “Don’t Go It Solo,” I discussed how mastermind groups can help you grow your business at a rapid speed. The best part is most are reasonably priced or free. I would pay to be in one if you want to maximize your time and ramp up the speed to grow your business. Check out the post here.

The next thing I shared was Growing Your Business With A Mentor. I am a huge fan of SCORE, a non-profit organization dedicated to helping small business owners & entrepreneurs. They offer a free coaching program that will help you to get the help you need to start, grow & scale your business. Check out the post here

The last tip I shared was the program offered by US Bank called Goals Coaching. The program is free and connects you with a coach who will help you with business or personal goals. You determine the length of time you want to meet up to 1 hour. This program is a game changer and the coaches are not able to pitch or sell you any services. You can check out the post here

The month of March was filled with basketball madness & wacky weather. I hope that did not get in the way of you being able to make progress toward your business goals with the tools shared in the post above.

Keep up the good work & Keep IT Sunny~

February Monthly Round-Up

This month went by fast!

I don’t know about you but I felt like I was on a very fast-moving treadmill that just kept going. It’s tax time and although I do not prepare taxes directly I do provide tax preparation help. Let’s just say being busy is an understatement. However, I did manage to take time to focus on my goals. In a few posts this month I discussed the definition of a goal and also remembering your “Why” and the reason you are doing what you are doing. It was a true eye-opener.

My Challenge To You

I want to encourage you to go back and read the post about goals & remembering your “why” to help reset your mind to go toward success.

That’s it for me. I hope your February was filled with lots of love from others and most importantly from yourself.

Keep IT Sunny!

October Roundup!

It is almost time for Halloween and to say goodbye to October. I know I always say this but this month felt like it went fast. I hope you are having a ton of fun enjoying all this season has to offer. I have stuffed myself with plenty of cider and donuts to last me until next October.

October is also a signal that we are heading into the end of the year and getting ready for planning for our next year’s business goals. I wrote a few posts on getting tax ready and evaluating your tech stack. I hope you will check out those posts to help you get ready to end the year strong.

Keep IT Sunny!

The July Round Up!

Summer is going by fast!

July is just about over and I hope you are kicking butt on your business goals. I am sure you are busy and taking care of yourself can rank at the bottom of your to-do list. The fact remains that if you are NOT healthy then your business will suffer. This month I wrote about 3 ways to manage & minimize stress in your life: time management, financial management, and sleep management.

Additionally, I talked about 5 great ways to eat healthy that are pretty simple. I love to eat BUT cooking can sometimes become cumbersome. I hope the tips I share in the post help you along your journey to eating healthier.

July is almost behind us but it is not too late to start goals that will help you to optimize your health.

Keep IT Sunny!

Happy 4th of July Early & June Roundup!

The month of June is over and the start of July is upon us. Before we usher in July let’s take a look back at the month of June to see if we are closer to reaching our goals. This month I wrote about how to set goals that are achievable, working in a state of chaos, and 3 tech tools to help you stay organized. If you didn’t get a chance to read those posts please take a few moments over the next few days to get caught up.

The month of July starts the season of summer with cookouts and outdoor gatherings. It also has one of my favorite summer holidays: The 4th of July which is one of my favorite summer holidays filled with tasty food and festive activities. It is a time to gather with friends and family to have fun! But let’s not forget the true reason why we celebrate the 4th of July:

Freedom & Liberty

There is much that can be said of those two words and I will leave that to you to ponder. The 4th of July for me is a time to celebrate being an American and feeling thankful for the soldiers on the ground and in other places that help this country to remain resilient and a beacon of hope for so many. I don’t take for granted that I was born here and for those who fought great battles to allow me to have the freedom that I enjoy today. As I eat all the summer treats and enjoy the fun of the day these sentiments will be close to my heart. If you want to learn more about the history of the 4th of July check it out here and enjoy your day my fellow Americans.

March Round Up!

Photo by Bich Tran from Pexels

This month we looked at tips to get started on the entrepreneurial journey. We started off with taking a dive into how to develop an entrepreneurial mindset. I can’t stress enough how important it is to take time to develop this type of mindset because it will come in handy when you hit a brick wall during your journey but you have to continue on. Next we looked at important tips to help you set up shop like testing the waters for your business idea first to make sure you have a business and not a hobby. We also talked about creating a business plan, creating a seed money fund, ideas for generating a business name and making sure you select the legal entity that is right for your business. Finally, we looked at the final piece of the puzzle which is making sure you have the right licensing and creating a bookkeeping system.

These posts are an overview of what you will need to get started on your business journey. I hope you put them to use as you start on your amazing journey to business success.

February Round Up

Did you enjoy the month of love? February went by like a blur but I did have a chance to enjoy the beautiful weather here in Southern Nevada. I spent time reflecting on my own business and how I can deliver even more value for my clients. I put a few books on my reading list. The first book is Atomic Habits by James Clear. As I write this I just realized that I have been on his email list since July of 2020 which tells me that I need to slow my life down.

:)

His book is on everyone’s lips. I even heard a sermon at church that included a reference to his book. My business club is reading his book so it is time for me to see what all the talk is about. The second book is Getting Things Done: The Art of Stress - Free Productivity by David Allen. This book is a game changer.

I hope you find time to read these books and take time to reflect on your business journey. If you didn’t get a chance to read my previous posts about how to get out of a business rut & how to get organized then I hope you will add those short posts to your list as well.

Keep IT Sunny!
